Bio

Joey Bradford

Date of birth: October 10, 1989
Hometown: Monterey, CA

At 18 years old, Joey Bradford is the youngest pro on the GT team. He is also one of the youngest riders bidding for a spot at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Since opting to purchase himself a bicycle at age seven (a GT no less!) instead of a toy with some money his father gave him, his path in BMX seemed destined. Beginning racing shortly thereafter, Joey quickly outpaced his peers to capture top three finishes in the first three events he entered. Clearly demonstrating the makings of an elite athlete, Joey began collecting trophies in only his second year of competition including both the NBL and ABA California State titles.

From there Joey embarked on a streak of domination that has resulted in 14 World Championships (9 ABA and 5 UCI), 13 U.S. National Championships, 10 California State Championships, 12 Regional Championships, and hundreds of national wins. Along the way Joey also cruised to the distinction of being the only rider ever to win the "Grand Slam" of BMX, taking the UCI World Champion, ABA World Champion, NBL U.S. National Champion, and ABA U.S. National Champion titles all in one year. Joey is also the only rider ever to win a UCI Championship on every continent except Antarctica with wins in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

Joey went pro with GT in 2006 at the age of 17. In addition to cleaning up on the BMX racing circuit, Joey also excels at competitive mountain biking, leads a development team for younger BMX racers through his website JoeyBradford.com and is the president of the Joey Bradford Disability Fund, an organization committed to helping injured BMX riders get back on their feet following career threatening injuries. Born into the world of competitive racing, JoeyÂ's Uncle is NASCAR legend Ernie Irvan, and his father Jerry is a well known BMX coach.

With a genuine and approachable personality coupled with an unparalleled drive to win, Joey is sure to be a crowd favorite should he qualify for Beijing.
