Burry Stander

Age: 20
Hometown: Port Shepstone, KZN, South Africa

2008 will be a year that Burry Stander will never forget. It is a year where Burry will be remembered as the young rider from South Africa that came out of nowhere, a breakout. His list of numerous successes this year consists of a U23 win/Elite Second place at the Andorra World Cup and an astounding second place finish at the U23 MTB Worlds Race.

It wasn't always this great for Burry. He pursued his love of the sport on his own until his parents started to support him as a young teenager. Burry finally started producing some worthy results when he was fifteen. His hard work attracted the attention of South African GT Bicycles distributor Omnico and their long-lasting sponsor, Mr. Price. That relationship was the jump start to Burry's career that ultimately landed him a spot on the GT Bicycles Mountain Bike team and allowed him to train and be coached by some of the best riders in the world.

Burry's hopes for the coming years are to keep enjoying the sport and becoming the best rider he can be. We certainly look forward to a long-lasting career for Burry and the amazing results he will surely produce!
