Bio
Luke Madill
Age: 28
Hometown: Sydney, Australia
Every racer has to live through the good and the bad. This is no exception for Luke Madill, GT-sponsored BMX Racer from Australia. The good for Luke have been his 11 Australian National Championship wins and having a successful career in BMX. The bad has been living through a bicycle horrible accident, suffering from a broken neck and doctors telling him one of the worst things a cyclist will ever hear – “You’ll never get back on the bike again.” Luckily, Luke isn’t one to listen to advice as he paves his own way and will be taking a shot at winning a gold medal this summer in Beijing.
Luke got his start on a neighbor’s dusty BMX track in Australia where hundreds of racers and fans would flock every Friday night. Soon his parents were taking Luke around the country for him to compete at the Pro level against some of the best in Australia. Luke credits this support from his family to where he is today.
Luke has been practicing on his own Olympic replica track that he has built in his parents’ back yard. Luke has also set his sights on the next round of Olympics in London in 2012. After the Olympic craziness subsides, he plans on continuing his racing career and possibly turning his own Olympic race track into a training ground for younger kids coming up through the ranks of BMX.
